My own personal journey with health, wellness and self-development began at a young age, however for many years I rejected what that meant to me. Growing up with high levels of anxiety and a strong lack of self-belief, I spent most of my childhood and teenage years fighting against who I really was, for fear of judgement from others.

And eventually it all caught up with me.

Again and again.

Each time in a way that was harder to ignore.

  • By the time I finished high school, I had developed alopecia areata (an auto-immune condition resulting in patches of hair loss across my entire body), along with clinical depression, disordered eating patterns,  and body dysmorphia.

  • By age 18, having moved interstate to study undergrad veterinary science and prove to everyone that I could ‘do the thing’ (whilst maintaining a long-distance relationship), intense anxiety had caused debilitating IBS and extreme weight loss. After joining a high intensity exercise group, I developed chronic fatigue which had me drop out of uni, stop work entirely, and move back home.

It was in the journey of healing from chronic fatigue that things finally began to shift.

Over the next two years I focused on the following:

  • I discovered the healing benefits of slow and intentional movement, like yoga and pilates;

  • I cleaned up my diet, cutting out aggravating and inflammatory foods like sugar and caffeine;

  • I learnt to listen to my body and rest when I needed, and I recovered and healed from chronic fatigue:

  • I stopped trying to force a path that wasn’t aligned for me, and finally entered the health and wellness industry as a personal trainer.

But I still had more to learn.

Some years later, a toxic romantic relationship coupled with a toxic workplace and incorrectly diagnosed anti-depressants (which I didn’t need in the first place), resulted in stress so high that my digestive system stopped functioning properly and I developed extreme food intolerances to almost all food groups, brain fog so severe I could hardly do my job, and extreme weight gain.

And here, within this devastating rock bottom, is where more of the magic truly lay.

By age 24, this was the second time I had needed to totally re-build myself. I left my job (with PTSD), I walked away from the toxic romantic relationship, and I walked away from ill-aligned friendship groups, all as a shell of a human.

So from here, I began the journey of TRULY meeting myself.

It hasn’t been a straightforward journey, however since that period of ‘re-birth’, I have committed myself to deepening my connection with my body and my soul, to connecting with what it means for ME to feel and be healthy, and to slowly but surely becoming MY OWN best version of self. I have committed to:

  • Working WITH my body, through functional nutrition, cycle syncing, and nervous system regulation;

  • Re-parenting my inner child and healing those parts of me that haven’t yet felt safe enough to show up in healthy and regulated ways; and

  • Learning how to regulate my emotions, how to communicate effectively with other people, and how to emotionally cope with painful or stressful situations.

I am now committed to empowering women to:

  • Build safety within the mind and body through nervous system and emotion regulation;

  • Tap into the power and wisdom that comes with living in alignment with their menstrual cycle;

  • Create sustainable habits that work WITH them to keep them empowered, aligned, and connected to self; and

  • Cultivate deep inner self-trust and anchored high self-worth through the ups and downs of life’s journey.

This journey of self-discovery never stops.

I can’t deny, I have continued to meet new edges and versions of myself that have rocked my world in various ways. Life is never a straightforward or linear journey - There will always be more to experience and learn.

However, the tools, knowledge, and wisdom I have gained and continue to gain, allow me to come back to centre with more ease and flow, and to understand what my body is communicating with me at any point in time. This, in turn, allows me to consistently respond to experiences and my health with alignment and intention. The journey of life isn’t necessarily smooth sailing or linear, but the magic in it is that we never go backwards. There is always room for growth, just as there are more aligned and empowered versions of ourselves to meet.

My intention in sharing my story is that you know you are not alone in your own.

I am so deeply honoured to be part of your journey towards living a life of empowerment and alignment within your health, your body, and your soul.

Lots of love,

Mon xx
