When your health routine isn’t enough to see results..

There are two main reasons as to why your routines alone may not be giving you the results you are wanting:

  • The first is that physically your body is not liking the way you are choosing to live your life. It is trying to maintain a state of homeostasis (internal balance) and the actions you are taking are pushing it further away from balance, so it is needing to compensate in increasingly bigger ways to maintain ‘balanced’.

    • This can look like potentially over-exercising and undereating (you can chuck in limited sleep, a high work stress environment, and lots of caffeine in there) and your body is running on empty. Your hormones may be out of balance, and your insulin sensitivity may be out of whack - both of which may cause sticky weight gain that won’t budge ESPECIALLY the more exercise you do. *Of course this is an extreme example.

  • The second is that subconsciously you may be fighting against the outcome you crave on a conscious level. Subconsciously we are hard-wired to seek safety, love, and inclusion. When we have experienced pain, shame, or rejection (personally or just through witnessing it in others) as a child, we pick up beliefs associated with those things we witnessed, and our brain forms protective subconscious mechanisms to ensure we don’t experience that again.

    • This can look like setting up all the healthy routines, purchasing the program, buying all the right foods, setting things up in your calendar, and then finding you are self-sabotaging without knowing why. This is more common than you may think, and if you are curious to learn more I have another blog I will link at the bottom that dives into this more.

So how do you approach this?

First off, although everything is connected and your physical and emotional health are intrinsically linked, your physical health is a great place to start.

If you haven’t been to a doctor recently or had any basic blood work done, I HIGHLY recommend you book that in ASAP to confirm whether you have any nutrient imbalances that may need correcting.

You can also see a nutritionist or naturopath (or chat with your GP if you are confident they are open minded about women’s health) about your hormones and address anything that may be out of whack there.

Ensuring your physical health is looked after well is a GREAT starting point and foundation for any deeper work you may opt to do.

Which leads me to my above point about your subconscious. You can approach this a number of ways:

  • You can start to journal about your habits and routines, to give you an idea of whether you may be subconsciously sabotaging your health without meaning to. This may help you get an idea of why and when it happens.

  • You can book in with me for a 1:1 session to explore where this may be coming up for you. Working with a coach is a sure-fire way to fast track any results are looking for, and I happen to specialise in not only physical health but subconscious reprogramming and somatic healing. You can check out my coaching offers in the ‘work with me’ tab at the top of my website. :)

Here’s the link to my blog ‘When discipline alone cant stop you self-sabotaging your health to read more about how the subconscious mind affects our conscious actions.

Sending you so much love!!
