What it TRULY means to be a woman 👸🏻

As a woman -

Essentially you are a dynamic, consistently shifting, absolute force of nature who at times may like Barbie and an absolute queen, while at other times may feel like a lousy, fat raccoon who wants to do nothing but rot in bed with her favourite snack and binge watch Netflix. 😅🥲

Jokes aside (although I have definitely felt like fat raccoon on many a luteal phase slump) being a woman means you are four different versions of yourself each and every month. 💁🏻‍♀️😇😈💃🏻

Think of it this way: You are able to hold space for all four seasons of life, every single menstrual cycle (aka between every time you bleed).

So if you are ever getting caught up in thoughts like:

💬 ‘My mood is so low this week’ or

💬 ‘I feel soo good right now, but I know I just won’t feel this way in a couple weeks. Why can’t I hold it together all the time?!’

💬 ’Yessss, I am SO ready to get my life together right now. I am motivated, energy is high, let’s do this!’ *starts new healthy routines only to find by the end of the third week you’ve binged and stopped gymming, leading to:

💬 ‘I ALWAYS struggle to keep my shit together longer than 3-4 weeks and I hate it. Why can’t I keep to a routine for four whole weeks? Am I that weak minded?’

💬 ‘Uhhh my bleed always falls on my holidays. This is so frustrating!’

💬 ‘I can’t fit into anything right now. I am SO bloated, I feel heavy and disgusting, and I just don’t want to be near anyone. FML.’

Here is your reminder to be kind to your body and all that she is doing for you and allowing for you each and every day.

REMEMBER that your hormones are shifting quite dramatically over the course of a full menstrual cycle. It is NORMAL to experience shifts in mood, physical appearance, potentially anxiety, social battery length, discipline, energy, and so much more, all within one menstrual cycle length.

The more you allow your habits, your routines, your social life, and your approach to your health to fluctuate with your cycle rather than trying to stick to a strict weekly routine with zero buffer for your inevitable mental/emotional/physical fluctatuations, the more you will be able to 🌻 ENJOY 🌻 your life and feel respect towards your body through it all.

And trust me - This is a lesson I WISH I learnt earlier in life. It would have saved MANY tears, moments of absolute frustration and confusion, and destructive thought patterns thinking I was defective. 🥲🦋

Worst case - Just know that ‘that thing about you that you are resenting during your luteal phase’ won’t last too long, and before you know it you’ll be in another season or ‘phase’ and feeling on top of the world again.
