Uplevelling through the lens of limiting beliefs

Entering into this new year, I am entering into a process of upleveling within various aspects of my life. I entered the year clear on three main goals/intentions (one for business, one for finance, and one for my personal health) which, for me to reach, will require for me to be consistent and disciplined in ways I have never previously been.

As I write this, we are only a few weeks into the year, and I can already feel how much of a push this is for me. I am meeting my edges here just by committing to these goals.

Here’s the thing – For most of my life, I have held back from truly growing and expanding within each of these areas of my life (business, finance, and health).

As much as I have tried in the past to push beyond my financial situation, expand within my personal business, and become consistently fitter and stronger.. I have consistently found myself shrinking back at some point or another, or self-sabotaging my efforts to push beyond a ‘set comfort zone’ that I knew was familiar and safe.

This would happen whenever I reached a point where I was about to uplevel into a new version of myself. It has ultimately meant I have remained stuck within my financial situation, business endeavours, and personal health status for a good many years (yikes!).

What I am explaining here is the way that limiting beliefs, which are formed when we are young (we all have them about one thing or another), remain with us as we grow until/unless they are challenged or re-written. Unless we do the work consciously re-write these stories, we are at the mercy of them. And it can be REALLY hard to push through them.

For me, these limiting beliefs have included things like:

  • ‘I need to work really hard to earn any money I make.’

  • ‘I never have enough money to feel financially abundant.’

  • ‘I am not worthy enough or cool enough to run a successful soul-led online business.’

  • ‘When I feel good in my body, I make other people feel uncomfortable.’

These beliefs were directly triggered whenever I was trying to achieve something within my life that specifically contradicted them. Because my nervous system wasn’t able to hold the space for expansion beyond those beliefs, it meant that any time I tried to create more wealth, establish a great online soul-led business, or improve my sense of body confidence, I subconsciously held myself back.

And this has ultimately prevented me from truly progressing, growing, and expanding in the ways I have really wanted to.

It is now, in this current moment, that I am aware enough of what these beliefs are, and why I have remained ‘stuck’ as a result of them, that I am able to challenge them, and move forward within my life. I am I able to consciously shift and re-write these beliefs, to actually achieve the things I want to achieve. Halleluiah!

Put simply – my current belief system is outdated, and this year I am in the process of creating a new belief system that allows for me to live the life I want to live!

Here’s the fun part – A HUGE part of this is re-wiring the nervous system to be able to cope with these new uplevels and new beliefs I am working towards establishing. This needs to occur on both a conscious and subconscious level. It will allow for me to push through those moments where my body is screaming at me to slow down and stop (which inevitably will occur numerous times!).

Some of the ways I do this is by:

  • Meditation, focusing on my breathing to allow myself a mental break;

  • Frequently checking in with my body – how am I feeling, and where am I feeling it?;

  • If I am feeling extra anxious, stepping away from technology and into nature, preferably by a water source and in the sun;

  • Ensuring I am getting enough sleep (this is huge!);

  • Allowing myself to have an ‘off day’, while preparing to get straight back into things the next day;

  • Consistently checking in with my goals and my ‘why’ – I have them up on my wall;

  • Focusing on showing up over perfection (again, this is HUGE!!)

  • Celebrating the small wins; Acknowledging when I have done something I previously wouldn’t have been able to do.

I hope this helps you along your own journey to creating and re-writing past limiting beliefs!

Reach out and let me know the ways in which this has helped!
